May We Recommend…

Often times my clients ask me where to purchase the training equipment I use, what dog food I recommend, and advice for further reading.

Dog Food:

I think we each make very personal decisions with regard to our dogs’ diets, whether it’s because of financial or time constraints, or due to our individual dog’s health. Instead of recommending a specific diet or brand of dog food, I highly recommend you check out Whole Dog Journal for a holistic approach and further reading about feeding your dog in general (as well as a whole host of other great dog care information).

If you want reliable, unbiased reviews of commercial dog foods, Dog Food Advisor has you covered. This is a privately-owned organization, not affiliated in any way with the pet food industry, nor do they accept any compensation for their reviews, which are honest and informative.

My Recommended Training Gear

As far as I can tell, your price is not affected by whether you use these links or not. Further, I do not receive a percentage of the price, I simply receive a pre-determined, set fee only if you purchase from these links.

I like these harnesses because of the ability to attach your leash either on the dog’s chest or on his back. Also, there are plenty of adjustment points to get the best fit for your dog.

For large dogs, I recommend the following 15-foot, 1-inch wide leash:

And for smaller dogs, this one comes in a variety of colors and is only 3/4″ wide, so it’s more comfortable in my smaller hands:

Most dogs in my experience love these dinner-dispensing toys:

This basket muzzle can be heated and shaped to your dog’s face for the must comfortable fit:

This exercise pen comes in a variety of height options. These pens are great tools for limiting your dog’s access to parts of your home.

A Tip From Laurie

Puppy-Proof Your Home – Like human babies, dogs use their mouths and teeth to discover their world.  Make sure that anything your puppy can access is safe for him to have in his mouth.
